Curly Mango

Curly Mango, Mangifera indica

Because of the spalting that is commonly present, the wood can be a kaleidoscope of colors. Under normal circumstances, heartwood is a golden brown, while other colors such as yellow and streaks of pink and/or black can also occur. Paler sapwood is not always clearly defined. Curly or mottled grain patterns are also common.

We have an extremely amazing supplier on the Hawaiian Islands, who's name will remain in confidence, to provide us sustainably harvested Curly Mango directly from the Big Island.  The curl, color, and quality of this lumber makes this a highly desirable wood to build our products with.  In addition to the nice honey/amber color that is apparent with only clear coating, this wood happens to stain nicely as well lending itself to a wide array of color options.
